About the Initiative

Celebrating Culture, Language, and Learning

As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 (Para 4.11), young children grasp complex concepts faster in their mother tongue or home language. Unfortunately, many preschool and early primary students today learn English rhymes disconnected from Indian culture and local surroundings. The “Baalpan ki Kavita” initiative aims to restore and popularize traditional and newly composed rhymes/poems in Hindi, regional languages, and English, fostering a play-based, culturally rooted learning environment.

The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), under the Ministry of Education, in partnership with MyGov, invites poets, educators, and creative minds to contribute to this movement. Your submissions will enrich educational resources for foundational-stage learners (ages 3–8) and nurture a love for Indian languages and heritage.
